Our repeat client, the French International School "Victor Segalen" of Hong Kong (Lycée Français International Victor Segalen), invited Interspace to renovate their new temporary expansion campus in Hung Hom. This space was previously used be the English Schools Foundation for many years, and was in need of substantial renovation. Based on our consultation with FIS, we designed a "Chinese Storybook" theme and integrated features into key areas in the campus.
A dragon has invaded the school's canteen! Cleverly constructed from acoustic foam, the undulating dragon flys through storybook clouds while helping to reduce ambient noise in the school's main canteen.
The dragon's tail curls through the canteen, in a complex vertical and horizontal trail, matching the position of beams in the ceiling. Extruded acrylic clouds have been designed with hidden acoustic foam to supplement the dragon's sound reducing nature.
Using ceiling space in the lobby, our design integrates prominent branding for FIS, without blocking the visual field in this busy area.
